Mile Ride House

Ascot, Berkshire

This project revolves around the transformation within an existing envelope and the addition of a contemporary orangery that protrudes into the rear garden. The new volume, with its simple clarity of space expressed with Bath Stone and Zinc, provides a viewing platform framing the landscape as part of the interior architecture. The remodelling of the interior focuses on maximising the sense of open plan living, producing a series of interlinking spaces where daily domestic life can naturally take place. The design draws on a combination of materials and detailing of junctions, with the emphasis of natural light, to enhance the texture and tone within the architecture.
